The Comparison of Tocolytic Effects between MgSO4 and Ritodrine HCL in Preterm Labor

Abstract
The study was attempted to analyze 147 pregnant women with preterm labor gestational age 20~35 weeks at Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, college of Medicine, from Aug. 1989 toFeb. 1992.
The purpose of this report compare efficacy of tocolytic effects in Magnesioum sulfate & ritodrine hydrochloride.
@ES The result is as follows:
@EN 1. Tocolytic effects in the Ritodrine & MgSO4 group is (58/67), 80%(67/84) in respect of 3 days success, 75%(59/67), 73%(61/84) in respect of 7 days success.
2. The mean concentration of magnesium sulfate in the patients for whom this agent was successful is 6.5mg/dl.
3. Side effect in the MgSO4 group in the same as in the Ritodrine group but, the patients ins well tolerable in the MgSO4 group.
4. Magnesium sulfate was found to be easy to administer and clinically efficacious. This result suggest that magnesium sulfate should be used as the first line of tocolytic
